130212 Moo Yeon & Eun Woo Team Up to Protect the King

Written By Regina Kim on Monday, February 11, 2013 | 7:08 PM

Actresses Uee and Joo Yeon have teamed up as female warriors to protect Yong Joon in the KBS2TV Wed/Thurs drama “Jeon Woo Chi”.
Uee as Moo Yeon and Joo Yeon as the king’s personal bodyguard Eun Woo are secretly helping Jeon Woo Chi do good and also protect the king every time the kingdom is in trouble. The two actresses have especially heightened the excitement in last week’s episode as the two transformed into the king(played by Ahn Yong Joon)’s personal bodyguards to protect him from Kang Lim (played by Lee Hee Jun) as a coup d’etat is staged within the palace.

While the two try to take the king to a safe place, they are ambushed by Kang Lim’s footmen and become trapped. The ending for episode 22 showed the three in turmoil while Doong Gae (played by Shin Seung Hwan) had a sinister smile on his face leaving the audience to wonder what will happen in the next episode and whether the two ladies will be able to deliver the king to safety.

Uee and Joo Yeon’s action sequence took place at a drama set located in Moon Kyung, North Gyeongsang Province. The two had been acting together for the first time since “Jeon Woo Chi” took the airwaves.

The two actresses worked together even while on break to coordinate their moves and were able to film the scene with great ease. Ahn Yong Joon who plays the king mentioned, “I can’t stop laughing being escorted by two lovely ladies”, while Shin Seung Hwan who was also close by said, “I can’t help being jealous” bringing laughter to the people who were on site.

A related official said the scene was an important one as the king’s life or death could bring changes to the plot. The official added, “Uee and Joo Yeon’s loyalty is shown in the scene saving Ahn Yong Joon. We hope the audience keeps tuning into Jeon Woo Chi until the last episode”.

Last week’s episode showed Jeon Woo Chi (played by Cha Tae Hyun) and Kang Lim (played by Lee He Joon) in a fierce battle against each other. The next episodes will air Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. on KBS2TV.

130207 “Jeon Woo-chi” Lee Hee-joon kidnaps UEE

Written By Regina Kim on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 | 8:23 PM

On the twenty-third episode of the KBS 2TV drama “Jeon Woochi – Drama“, Kang-rim (Lee Hee-joon) kidnapped Moo-yeon (UEE).

Kang-rim conspired alongside Oh-yong (Kim Byeong-se) but failed to succeed because of Jeon Woo-chi (Cha Tae-hyeon). Angered by this, Kang-rim kidnapped Moo-yeon on the day of the Queen’s coronation.

He tied her up and fastened an arrow pointing at her. When she asked him, “If you wanted to kill me, this wouldn’t be the only way”, he answered, “I don’t want to kill you easily. I think you ought to know what it’s like to die a painful death”.

When Moo-yeon asked if he resented her, he said, “How can I express how I feel so easily with words? Don’t call my name with that filthy mouth of yours. How would you know how I feel about losing my father by falling for you?”

“He was my father. I want to kill you right away but I can’t make his dreams come true. So I am waiting. Jeon Woo-chi (Cha Tae-hyeon) and the King will both die to avenge my father’s death”.

Meanwhile, at the end of the episode, Jeon Woo-chi had to choose between the King Igo’s (Ahn Yong-joon) safety and Moo-yeon.

Cha Tae-yeon and Uee play the leading characters in the drama and have managed to keep their love from the days of Yuldoguk to the Chosun period. The pair, who are the main couple in Jeon Woochi, are regarded as ‘a match made in heaven’ and they are so close that they have become each other’s reason for living, attracting attention from the viewers all the time.

They are enchanting the viewers with a range of thrilling love scenes in every episode. Among them are the ‘kiss among autumn foliage’ during the Yuldoguk days to the ‘reversal embrace’ shown in the latest episode. Seeing the couple’s love action, one viewer commented, “I want to have a date like them when I have a sweetheart in the future.

Female viewers particularly enjoyed the ‘kiss among autumn foliage’ through which both confirmed their love for each other, the ‘poison kiss’, during which Jeon Woo Chi (Cha Tae-hyun) removed the poison from Moo Yeon (Uee)’s body and into his own, freeing her from its grasp, and their extraordinary rooftop date in which both reaffirmed their feelings for the other.

Their ‘sobbing embrace’ after their reunion in Chosun, and the ‘cave embrace’, after escaping from villains deeply impressed the viewers. In addition, the ‘bruise date’ in which Moo-yeon cared for Jeon Woochi after he was stabbed, thus showing her true feelings for him and the ‘reversal embrace’ after Moo-yeon’s reversal action for her life’s sake all displayed the selfless love of the couple.

Viewers were also moved by their love action ‘like one in body and soul’ as expressed in the ‘snow path date’ and the ‘warehouse love action’ in which the couple looked into each other’s eyes warm-heartedly and clasped each other’s hands.

In last week’s episode, Uee set out to tackle Ma Sook and the evil forces alone, and the audience were left curious about what fate would hold for the couple in the following four episodes of the drama.

Cha Tae-hyun said, “The latest ‘reversal embrace’ was the most impressive for me. I felt the selfless love of Moo-yeon and Jeon Woochi in the ardent embrace which could be the last one for them.” He added, “The shooting for those scenes was hard, but I will not forget it.”

Uee said, “The date with Taeyeon ‘obba’ on the roof top still rings in my heart. It was chilly and snowy and the height was somewhat scary, but it was very pleasant. I am delighted to remember it.”

In the last episode, Moo Yeon aimed her dagger towards Ma Sook (Kim Gap-soo) mercilessly when she encountered him, raising the tension in the drama.

The KBS’s mini series airs every Wednesday and Thursday at 10 p.m. on KBS 2TV.

Written By Regina Kim on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 | 8:44 PM

Uee will be coming back as a romantic girl after leaving her fighting character behind.

On the KBS2 drama Jeon Woochi, Uee appears as Hong Mu Yeon, the girl who is put under a spell by Ma Sook (Kim Gap Soo) and comes to attack her lover Woochi.

In the previous episode of Jeon Woochi, the eighth in the series, she even cast magic against Jeon Woochi (Cha Tae Hyun) as soon as she saw him without recognizing him.

Viewers took to the viewer forums to comment, "When will Mu Yeon break the spell?" "Please let Hong Mu Yeon recognize Jeon Woochi" and "It′s so sad, how she can′t recognize the man she loved even when he′s right in front of her."

In the 10th episode, to air on December 20, Mu Yeon will finally break through the spell as viewers so wished. A series of stills released before the airing of the episode shows Uee shedding tears as soon as she is released, drawing attention to how she was able to break the spell and why she cries.

The episode was filmed on December 17 at a set in Mungyeong for 10 hours from 8 a.m. As soon as she appeared on set, Uee had to attach wires to her body for her action scenes, but still, despite the cold weather, she managed to put on a great performance in the air on her wires. As soon as she got the OK sign she even used her break to draw out the emotions for her next scene, in which she had to spill tears.

When her large eyes started to well up with tears, a male staff member even volunteered to cry for her.

A rep from Chorokbaem Media, Jeon Woochi′s production company, said, "Viewers bombarded us with questions on when Mu Yeon will be released from her spell. They will be able to see Mu Yeon break the spell in the 10th episode. Uee acted as a cold Hong Mu Yeon who didn′t show any emotions, but now she will express herself and become a loveable figure. Please show us more love for Jeon Woochi, with its ever-evolving story."

UEE showed her ‘bipolar’ side while filming for ‘Jeon Woo Chi‘.

UEE is currently playing the female protagonist, Princess Hong Moo Yeon, in the new KBS 2TV drama ‘Jeon Woo Chi’. Hong Moo Yeon is the main character Jeon woo Chi’s (Cha Tae Hyun) lover, who falls under a spell that rids her of all emotions.

The After School member has a lively personality and is reported to bring a cheerful mood on the set, making friends with staff and her fellow actors. However, once the cameras turn on, she immediately becomes the cold, emotionless princess. In the recently revealed still cuts, UEE is shown in a redhanbok deep in thought, and again in a blue hanbok as she portrays an icy exterior without emotion.

One staff member commented, “UEE is a really [playful] actress. She has a 100% different personality than her character Hong Moo Yeon. But when she’s acting, she’s 100% synchronized with her character. I can tell how hard she works for the drama.”

120920 After School U-ee is Confirmed to Star in “Jeon Woo Chi

Written By Regina Kim on Thursday, September 20, 2012 | 10:36 PM

The popular movie ‘Jeon Woo Chi’ will be made into a drama.

After much speculation the lead actors have been confirmed. As revealed last month U-ie received an offer to star in this promising drama. It has now been officially confirmed that U-ie will star in this drama as the lead female. Noted actor and singer Cha Tae-Hyun has been cast in the lead male role.

This story is based on a fantasy novel/folktale, so it’s not necessary an adaptation of the 2009 film bearing the same name. Same source material, similar aspects, but a different angle.

For those of you unfamiliar with the film, the plot revolves around a Taoist wizard (dosa) named Jeon Woo-chi who has been locked in a magic scroll for 500 years. Then the seal is broken and the impish Woo Chi is released into the modern world, where he fights goblins and monsters. And wreaks a little havoc of his own.

The drama sounds like it’s hewing closer to the original story, where Jeon Woo-chi is an inhabitant of Yuldo, a (fictional) ideal nation established by righteous bandit and Robin Hood, Hong Gil-dong. Woo-chi is a dosa who initially gains his powers by swallowing a gumiho fox bead. He travels to Joseon on a revenge mission, but when he sees the plight of the people there suffering under tyranny and famine, he develops into a hero. Sweet.

It’ll be a fusion sageuk, so no time-traveling or modern-day Seoul. Woo-chi’s character is trouble-making and mischievous, and the producers have stated their intention to include all kinds of colorful characters from the “bottom” of Joseon society: con artists, bandits, gisaengs, and more.

Attached are PD Kang Il-soo of Kingdom of the Wind and Emperor of the Sea; writer is Jo Myung-joo of King Gwanggaeto — so, lots of sageuk experience up in here. In any case, sounds like an interesting project with a fresh premise.

Jeon Woo Chi will start to air in November on KBS 2TV.
