In a photo released by her agency, After School’s Nana surprises fans by posing topless.
The teaser photo asking “What’s next?” is one of several shots revealed to promote the June 13th release of After School’s 6th maxi single. In a group shot of the girls, they display a sexy, funky look and show off plenty of leg. However, the newly release photo of Nana is by far the raciest.
The picture has already gained lots of attention and is earning mixed reactions from fans. While some fans simply comment on how beautiful she looks, other express their disappointment in the photo and find it to be in poor taste.
In general, Kpop artists have always been more conservative than Western artists. It is this fact which has appealed to many fans who have grown tired of the over-sexualized appearances and songs common in the Western music industry. Though it is exciting to see Kpop expanding around the world, some fans are worried that their favorite Kpop artists will change too much in an effort to be accepted in the mainstream music industry.
Although the photo of Nana is not as revealing as many of the pictures Rihanna tweets on a daily basis or even as risqué as some of Beyoncé’s stage costumes, this picture still leaves fans wondering… is this photo proof that Kpop is heading in a new direction?
